Most people who want to start a home based business have worked out in the real world for a least a while. Indeed these days many people are looking to start an home business concern to replace lost income after a job layoff or pay cut. Whatever the case, one of the stumbling blocks that has to be overcome is the “employee mindest”.

When you worked out there in the “real world” someone else was always in control of your time, your actions, the work you performed and even when you could take a lunch break. In being your own boss you have to act like one. Set yourself a schedule, a list of goals for the day and ensure you accomplish them everyday. Avoid distraction like television and the kids, things that were never an issue back in your employee days.

If you are not capable of a certain level of self discipline and self direction then the world of the home based business is probably not for you. You need to be the boss now, and ditch the employee mindset for good.
